Approved: Poté

Poté

Poté initially made his name as a dance music producer, with his focus very much set on the dancefloor, albeit with slightly leftfield takes on various genres. Since last year, with the release of his ‘Over The Water’ EP, he’s been defining a clear and more nuanced sound of his own. New EP, ‘Fire For Fire’, sees him form those ideas into a bold new calling card.

Featuring vocals from Carmody, Kojey Radical and Poté himself, the four tracks on ‘Fire For Fire’ feel like part of one whole, flowing together with melodic and rhythmic links back and forth. The production is as epic as a short-form release will allow, with a dark mood set early on and a vast palette of instruments.

“The EP speaks on the immense battle between following your own advice versus your urges”, says Poté. “Ultimately it’s a battle between your heart and brain, fighting fire with fire”.

Lead single ‘Egosurf (For All It’s Worth)’ is certainly the EP’s high point, and a great route into the release. Watch the video for the track here:
