Approved: Melody’s Echo Chamber
By Aly Barchi | Published on Monday 16 July 2012
Apparently prone towards collaborations with Antipodean psych bands, not only did Parisian-born Melody Prochet, alias Melody’s Echo Chamber, persuade Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker to oversee and mix her soon-to-be-released debut LP, but she’ll also (on 30 Jul) release a seven-inch single with Fat Possum labelmates and New Zealanders Unknown Mortal Orchestra, who will provide an immediate cover of her new song, ‘Endless Shore’, as a b-side.
An even-toned rush of synths and exquisite guitar eddies, MEP’s vocal parts on the original were recorded by a lone Prochet in her late grandmother’s beach house, a scenario she defines in this Stool Pigeon interview as “intense, emotionally… but the perfect place to write and sing. It meant a lot”.
