Approved: Lannds
By Andy Malt | Published on Monday 4 December 2017
Since releasing her debut single last year, Lannds – aka Rania Woodard – has been releasing new music at a relatively regular rate, with a good number of singles, remixes and an EP now available to dig into.
With tracks like ‘Hourglass’ and ‘Still’, her music has a late-night feel to it. By which I mean they sound like they were recorded in dimmed light, at a time when there’s little going on outside. The line “I’m wide awake in a sleepy world” from ‘Wide Awake’ – the title track from the EP – also feeds into that, I guess.
Latest single ‘Words’ continues the intimate feel of her previous releases, perhaps even taking it further. Instruments in the track often feel distant. Even the bass that buzzes in the foreground is hard to quite get a handle on. It all comes together to make this her most absorbing song to date.
