Approved: LA Witch
By Aly Barchi | Published on Tuesday 2 July 2013
Dum Dum Girls-alikes (mainly in looks, if not sonically) LA Witch’s dark garage-rock art is at its most practiced on the band’s first official release, a tri-track EP with assists by Burger Records signing Joel Jerome and Lucy Miyaki (that’s Miyaki as in Approved act Tashaki Miyaki).
Framed by the bone-rattling bass schisms of ‘Get Lost’ and ‘You Love Nothing’, its most sophisticated track ‘Heart Of Darkness’ is exactly that, a death-blackened organ beating smack in the middle cavity. What a delight.
