CMU Approved

Approved: Here We Go Magic

By | Published on Tuesday 8 June 2010

Originally a solo side project for singer-songwriter Luke Temple, providing an outlet for songs radically different to his work under his own name, Here We Go Magic’s eponymous debut album was released in 2009, quickly finding an excited and impassioned audience. Now officially a five-piece, the band release their second album, ‘Pigeons’, via Secretly Canadian this week.

The new album is an explosion of euphoric indie, with tracks often building to intense crescendos through a series of increasingly forceful krautrock-esque loops, particularly evident on the first single ‘Collector’ (though the album’s highlight for me is the more dreamy ‘FFAP’). Live, this is even more pronounced, with the band seemingly as much lost in their performances as those willing to join them. Various gigs and festival dates in the UK are upcoming, and you’d do well to check them out.
