Got A Girl

The hard shoulder on the road to musical success is littered with the decaying corpses of actors who decided that making it in music as well couldn’t be all that hard. Actually, quite a few of them suffered non-threatening injuries, fashioned themselves a stage out of twigs and the bones of others, and started endlessly bashing out bad blues songs, doomed to forever live in this weak metaphor I, like them, should have given up on long ago.

My point is, Mary Elizabeth Winstead is an actor. You’ve seen her in stuff. ‘Final Destination 3’, Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Death Proof’, ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’ and the last two ‘Die Hard’ films. Apparently, so they say, just doing it for the fun of it initially, they gradually realised they had enough music on their hands to make an album that was actually pretty good. Because it turns out she has a good voice, and Dan The Automator, you may have already noted, is Dan The Automator.

Calling themselves Got A Girl, the album, ‘I Love You But I Must Drive Off This Cliff Now’, is out this week. And here’s the single, ‘Did We Live Too Fast’:
