Approved: Go Dark
By Andy Malt | Published on Monday 30 November 2015
Ashley Gallegos and Doseone have been working together on experimental electronic music for a few years now, releasing their debut EP as Go Dark – ‘Bitchsword’ – last year. Now they’re back with a second offering, ‘Brightwild’.
Built out of improvised sessions, which are then finessed into their final versions, the songs have a free-flowing feel; hard to predict, but fun to travel with. Sometimes they almost veer into pop, while on other tracks they drift towards the more abstract hip hop that Doseone is best known for.
The EP, as well as being made available by more traditional means, can be downloaded for free by playing and winning an accompanying videogame. I’m not exactly sure what I was doing, but I just won two tracks. You can also watch a video about the game’s creation here.
Now, listen to ‘Mr So&So’ from the EP.
