Approved: FaltyDL – Hardcourage

New Yorker Drew Lustman is FaltyDL. Taking inspiration from the days of acid house and breakbeat, he seems able to lean heavily on the past while also creating sonic soundscapes that embrace the future. Last year’s album, ‘You Stand Uncertain’, is an extremely good place to start to see what I mean – it really is exceptional.
Initially signed to Planet Mu, last year he shifted over to Ninja Tune for the ‘Atlantis EP’, which was good, though seemed to lack that little something special. But on this, his new Ninja release, that little extra something is definitely there. Going back to the old school, it’s a classic double A-side twelve-inch, taking us very much back to the future in a sterling manner. Highly recommended.
