Approved: Cherry Glazerr

Cherry Glazerr

Having released two albums through Burger Records, plus more recently singles through Suicide Squeeze and Adult Swim, Cherry Glazerr continue their tour of esteemed business partners by signing to Secretly Canadian.

Their first single under the new deal is ‘Told You I’d Be With The Guys’, which shows a sharpening of frontwoman and last remaining original member Clementine Creevy’s already pretty pointed songwriting. Punchy with a dry humour – addressing what Creevy sees as her own need to show a bit more solidarity with other women – it’s a strong start for the band’s return.

“Sexism is so ingrained in me, I can often feel that men are the only ones who can help me socially, economically”, she says of the lyrics. “The most important thing in my life is that I’ve realised I need to work for solidarity. That song’s both hopeful and dismal!”

You can catch Cherry Glazerr live in London at Mirrors festival on 29 Oct.
