Approved: Bleeding Heart Narrative – Mysterious Cults
By Andy Malt | Published on Thursday 8 March 2012
Bleeding Heart Narrative have been through many changes since frontman Oli Barrett began the project as a means to combine what he had learnt on his sound design degree with his cello playing. Since then the venture has been through various line-up and sound changes, although there’s a clear lineage from its inception to the present day.
A move towards more traditional songwriting, while still maintaining the experimental approach to recording and instrumentation that won them their early fans, came with ‘Perun’, a one-off single released at the tail end of 2010, and continued with last year’s ‘Bison’ EP, released in November by Brainlove Records.
Ahead of a support slot with When Saints Go Machine at London’s Hoxton Bar & Kitchen on 2 Apr, the band have just released a new video for a track from ‘Bison’, ‘Mysterious Cults’. The moody black and white footage matches the song’s slow build to a monstrous, sustained post-rock peak. Check it out here:
