Aerosmith’s Joe Perry “alert and responsive” after collapsing at Madison Square Garden

Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry has been described as “alert and responsive” after collapsing back stage at Madison Square Garden in New York on Saturday night.
Perry had appeared at a Billy Joel show at the venue, performing Aerosmith song ‘Walk This Way’. According to TMZ, he collapsed after returning to his dressing room, and was attended to by paramedics before being taken a to hospital.
A rep for Perry said in a statement: “Following a guest performance during Billy Joel’s show last night at Madison Square Garden, Joe Perry experienced shortness of breath and was treated backstage by paramedics who gave the guitarist oxygen and used a tracheal tube to clear his airway before taking him to a hospital. This morning, Perry remains in the hospital where he is alert and responsive”.
Aerosmith are set to celebrate their 50th anniversary next year, with a residency at the Park MGM in Las Vegas.
