50 Cent pleads not guilty to domestic violence charge
By Andy Malt | Published on Tuesday 6 August 2013
50 Cent yesterday appeared in court in LA to plead not guilty to charges that he attacked his ex-girlfriend, model Daphne Joy, and caused over $7000 of damage to her home.
As previously reported, 50 Cent was charged by police last month. It is alleged that he and Joy, who have a child together, became involved in an argument on 23 Jun. She says that he began destroying her property, but turned his attention on her when she locked herself in a bedroom, breaking down the bedroom door and kicking her. A police report estimates damage of $7100 to her home and property.
Yesterday, Fiddy entered a plea of not guilty, but was nonetheless given a protection order by the judge overseeing the case, prohibiting him from contacting or going within 100 yards of his ex. He was also ordered to turn in all of his guns.
He is due back in court again next month. If found guilty he faces up to five years in prison and fines of up to $46,000.
